Hearing aids wear out, and the technology moves on. Statutory health insurance usually pays a new subsidy for new devices after about six years. At the free hearing test we check with you whether that time has come.

When are new hearing aids due?
Three things decide whether a new fitting is due.
After about six years
Statutory health insurance usually pays the fixed amount for new hearing aids again after about six years. If your hearing has changed noticeably, it can be sooner.
When your devices start to fade
The battery runs down faster, the devices whistle, speech sounds unclear: often it is the technology, sometimes your hearing. We check both at the hearing test.
With a prescription
For the insurance subsidy you need a prescription from your ENT doctor. We handle the billing with your health insurer.
Switching from another hearing care provider
For your new hearing aids you are free to choose which hearing care professional you go to. Bring your current devices and, if you have it, your last hearing test. We take care of the rest, including with your health insurer.

Or: current technology every three years with a subscription
With a subscription you wear your hearing aids for 36 months. After that you get devices with current technology. Maintenance, repairs and batteries or rechargeable cells are included, and your health insurer's subsidy is credited. Whether a subscription or a purchase suits you better, we discuss at the appointment.

What does health insurance pay?
With statutory health insurance, your insurer pays a fixed allowance per ear (the Festbetrag). It is a subsidy, not the full price: it covers a basic fitting including adjustment and aftercare. If you want more technology, you pay the difference as your own share. We bill your insurer directly and go through your own share with you beforehand.
Do I need a prescription from an ENT doctor?
For your insurer's allowance, yes: you need a medical prescription, usually from your ear, nose and throat specialist. You can take the hearing test with us at any time without one, so you already know how well you hear before your doctor's appointment.
I have private health insurance. How does it work?
We prepare a transparent cost estimate for you to submit to your insurer. How much is reimbursed depends on your plan. We are happy to advise you on any reimbursement question in person at the branch.
Subscription or purchase: what is the difference?
It is your choice. With a subscription you pay a fixed monthly amount that includes maintenance, repairs, batteries or charger, and loss protection. With a purchase you pay once, and fitting, aftercare and the manufacturer's warranty are included. Your insurer's allowance counts towards both.
